were very excited from the minute we heard about this. (In case you hadn't
already guessed we get excited about a lot of things) So excited in fact
that not even major dental surgery was going to stop us from seeing one
of the best 80's rock bands in the world. So one of us filled up with painkillers
and the other with cider off we went. We had a very serious discussion prior to leaving the house about what songs we wanted to hear and they did not disappoint. Featuring the best songs of classic albums such as "Cocked and Loaded" and "Hollywood Vampires" and also new tracks from "Tales from the strip" the set included: "No mercy", "Sex Action", "Vampire", "Over the edge", "Electric Gypsy" and Stacey Blade's version of "Aint got nothing better to do". And according to Phil Lewis , for the last time played a song about a woman named Jayne!! Phil Lewis states that he is 39, I doubt this, but he can still move around the stage well and his voice has not changed over the years. The new songs seemed to go down equally well with the crowd and I have to say that one of the highlight's for me was the song "Vampire". Anyone who stated that it wasn't the same without Tracii was wrong as former Roxx Gang guitarist Stacey Blades is a perfect man for the job. It's good to see that despite numerous line-up changes and personal difficulties over the years Phil Lewis and Steve Riley can still hold LA Guns together to put on a fantastic show like this. Quite simply I did not want this show to end, some bands when playing a small venue like the Rosetta don't put much effort in but this can not be said of Phil and the boys, who played like it was Wembley and the crowd seemed to appreciate it. And coming out afterwards to sign autograph's giving HMI a chance to torture them and get the new album signed ... always a winner!! Kerri |
