Motley Crue

Ok this was the second time I had seen Motley Crue this week. As I was not hungover this time we decided that nothing would do but we would get to the very front even if we had to endure Killing Joke at close range. We did get to the very front because I nearly lost my eyebrows when The Crue came on due to all the pyrotechnics. I can honestly say that between the excitement, what felt like the weight of everyone in Cardiff on my back and the explosions I have never been as hot in all my life as I was during "Red… em Hot". I was pleased that The Crue included older tracks in the first half of the set, particularly "Louder than Hell" "Too young to fall in love" and "On with the Show".

The second half of the show was the good old hits that everyone knows and loves, starting with the biggest one of these "Girls, Girls, Girls" and my favourite's"Wildside" "Don't go away mad" and "Primal Scream". Nikki must have forgot the set list cause at one stage he was all set to play "Livewire" again even through Vince has a guitar meaning it had to be "SOS". During all of these there was the continuing entertainment of dancers, vertically challenged Mighty Mike and yet more Pyrotechnics. Motley Crue, I feel have received unfair reviews for their UK tour, they never said they were expert musicians, and no one can say that they do not put on a good show.

For all that Mick Mars has been through and considering Dave Navarro was lined up to replace him on the tour due to his failing health he played amazingly well. Vince has been picked on for his singing during the past few tours, which admittedly is not great at times but he always said he was a better front man and no one can deny that. Tommy continues to be a superb drummer and I suppose we have to admit that the titty cam is very Motley!!! Nikki's solo bit was strangely mesmerizing, more so for the guy beside me who was transfixed on Mr Sixx's lady friend with the angle grinder.

I get bored easily at gig's if bands can't hold my attention but the Crue held it for the whole 2 1/2 hours they played for even through I had seen the same show 4 days before. I don't care if Nikki isn't the best bass player, Vince sings through his nose, Mick can't more like Angus Young and Tommy Lee is like a hyper active kid. It's Motley Crue, no one can put on a rock n' roll show like them!!!!
