Nice N Sleezy, Million Dollar Reload and Veteran

 Veteran
While Veteran played a solid enough set, perhaps their style of music was not particularly suited to the other two bands of the evening; their sound owed more to the likes of Foo Fighters rather than Aerosmith or Guns N’ Roses, I thought, with a more alternative slant on their music.

A cover of T-Rex’s 20th Century Boy seemed slightly out of place compared to the rest of their set, although I found songs such as A1 enjoyable. Clearly the band can all play; and the drummer in particular I was impressed by- he seemed to be enjoying himself the most out of all the band.

Maybe playing with different bands would have endeared me to Veteran more, however on the whole I think they were just too different from Nice N’ Sleezy and Million Dollar Reload to be able to be fully appreciated.

Million Dollar Reload
Million Dollar Reload played a storming set- every song was pure rock and roll and their time onstage flew in. I have to say there wasn’t one song I didn’t enjoy.

Highlights were Tattooed And Dirty Girls, and Living In The City- both songs would no doubt have gotten us up dancing if a) the venue had been bigger and b) we hadn’t been sober(!) Great choruses, and the whole band sounded wonderful.

Ballad The Last Icon went down well too, and vocalist Philly‘s voice has no problems carrying off this kind of song at all.

Some of these guys of course have previously performed as the tribute Gunz N’ Roses, but if they keep on giving enjoyable performances like this, they will have absolutely no problem shaking off that tag. Although they are seasoned gig-players, it must still be noted that this was their first gig playing as Million Dollar Reload, and so credit is due for playing such a great set.
Definitely will be going to see M$R again, without a doubt.

Nice N Sleezy
It’s probably fair to say that both Nice N’ Sleezy’s look and sound wouldn’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but we like them a lot.

They played every song at breakneck speed, particularly their regular cover of the Crue’s All In The Name Of… and Bathroom Wall by Faster Pussycat, which was making a welcome return to their live set.
The original material was good to hear, as always, with my favourites being Dangerously Close To Love and of course Rock N’ Roll Addiction, which are both on the band’s demo.
We were even treated to a short bass solo which seemed to go into Beat It by Michael Jackson- the band clearly have a good sense of humour and their onstage rapport is always fun to watch.

As always, their performance was enjoyable, but perhaps we had been too impressed by Million Dollar Reload to be truly blown away. That’s not to say Nice N’ Sleezy weren’t good, because they were- and props to guitarist Niall for jumping up on our table at the very end without knocking anything over or doing himself an injury!
