Stereo Junks Suicide Angels 2005 Star Trash Productions |

The Stereo Junks are a four piece band hailing from Finland. For some reason, I was expecting the Stereo Junks to sound like H.I.M- I’m not really sure why, maybe the whole Finnish thing, but thankfully (sorry Ville fans), I was wrong. They describe their influences as Guns N’ Roses, the Stones, and Hanoi Rocks. I would recommend this EP to anyone that enjoys in-your-face rock. Like other relatively new bands such as Crystal Pistol, they are mixing ’80’s sleaze with punk and seemingly playing it as fast and as loud as they can. Opening track Suicide Angels in particular reminded me a lot of Crystal Pistol, and the bass sounds great in this song too. Anzi Destruction’s slightly croaky vocals complement the songs well, particularly China White. He has just the right kind of voice to sing these sleazy, punky songs. My favourite track would have to be Doing Fine. I like the melody, and with its upbeat chorus, it is perfect to nod your head and sing along to. It’s perhaps the most ‘80’s hard rock sounding of all the songs… perhaps that’s why I like it the most! …Or maybe China White is my favourite. I honestly can’t decide. It just sounds LOUD. I will probably be playing it in my car a lot. I hope I don’t crash. This is fast, trashy rock and roll. They look,
and sound dirty, and thank God for that. The guys play a few UK dates
at the beginning of March, and if you’re lucky enough to live near
one of the venues, then do yourself a favour and check them out. |
