Soundstone
Scratchin at my Door
2007

I'll start of by apologising to the very patient guys in Soundstone for the length of time that it has taken me to do this review, i'm a lazy bitch, sorry!!!!

For those who don't know, Soundstone are a heady mix of bluesy rock n roll and dirty vocal (and lyrics!!!). The three track EP was produced at Manor Park studios and its evident from the start that it has captured Soundstone at their very best.

The first track 'Still I Wake' comes thumping onto the stereo with massive guitar lines and crashing cymbals. Declan's vocals cover a impressive range throughout this song and the chorus comes across as a laid back drawl.

My favourite track is the southern styled 'Good for the soul' which is the kind of song that makes me wish I had a porch so I could sit on it with a big glass of Jack Daniels. I love the guitar riff in this song. They are so catchy and will be in your head for the rest of the day.

'Everybody knows' is a darker, muddier song but once again its catchy and like the previous two songs it has a catchy chorus.

Overall this was a great release from Soundstone, but for a band with such a wealth of material, 3 tracks is a little disappointing. Get writing the album guys and get back to Mr Calderwood ASAP to record it!!
