Pussy Sisster
Sleazy Things

Demo
The delightfully named Pussy Sisster hail from Germany and are another band taking influence from classic 1980’s L.A. bands. (Always good in HMI’s book.)

On first listen I wasn’t crazy about the vocals, but after a while they began to grow on me, and singer Alex Sex’s style of singing is more than apt for the kind of rock n’ roll that these guys play; and it does sound good on songs such as Over The Top and Broken Man, which both have shout-at-the-top-of-your-voice choruses.

Along with those two tracks, the likes of Afraid and closing song Whiskey are all good time rock n’ roll; perfect music to come crashing out of your speakers when you want to hear fun tunes about alcohol and loud guitars.

Sadly Don’t Go Away starts in the middle of the EP, and following songs that are a hell of a lot better, it does seem to drag things down a little and cause a loss of momentum somewhat. Unfortunately I feel that on this track the vocals really do let it down. I’ll Be Waiting follows, and again it doesn’t emulate the standard of some of the earlier tracks. But having said that, they are not particularly bad songs; just not in the same league in my opinion.

Crying provides the EP with its token ballad, and with its country-ish sound and understated solo, it was one of the highlights. Great singalong chorus, too. Definitely one of the standout tracks; one that wouldn’t sound amiss in an arena filled with lighters being held aloft.

Overall this EP really delivered more than I initially expected. With nine songs, perhaps it is one or two tracks too long, but they are played well, and with the song Broken Man featuring on Hollywood Hairspray 6, they do seem to be making an impact in sleaze rock circles. The more I hear this EP, the more I like it.
