A vast range of influences (from NIN, Leonard Cohen to Backyard Babies and Zodiac Mindwarp) come into play with the band Obsessive Compulsive, and the cumulative effect of these has resulted in a most intense and slick 6 track release from this Manchester based group. The artwork itself exudes professionalism and hints at the darker edge that the CD possess'. It's certainly not hairmetal, but the tracks grab you attention and unquestionably rock!

The band have managed to combine a hard-hitting metal edge with the big chorus’ of songs such as the opening track ‘Better than this’ and the commanding 'Heart disease'.

The band seem to fall back on Kelli’s note perfect vocals to provide any real variation to the verse’s within the songs as the guitar’s, although vigorous and compelling, remain largely behind the scenes through the EP.

The darker undertones of the lyrics of the tracks such as 'Eliminate Personal Comments' and 'Intravenous' only serve to enhance the dynamic melodies of each song.

The bass during the intro of 'Eliminate Personal Comments' creates a dark, almost threatening beginning to the song and I was pleased to her that Kelli really lets her voice go for this song as she had sounded a little restrained on previous tracks. Great guitar solo during this track which lets us know what Giz is capable of.

Don't jump to conclusions about this band, don't think you can judge them, and certainly don't think you can compare them to any other female fronted metal bands. Obsessive Compulsive refuse to be placed in a genre box, their EP rocks and that's all there is to it.
