Northern Ireland’s Nice N’ Sleezy are of course a band I have seen a few times live now, so I was looking forward to getting this EP. The recorded tracks easily capture the energy of the live show. Both Rock N’ Roll Addiction and Dangerously Close To Love feature blistering guitar solos, and the guys musicianship can’t be doubted. (I also like the wolf whistle in D.C.T.L- Oh, and the handclaps during Rock N’ Roll Addiction too. It’s the little touches like this that make the EP enjoyable.) Each of the three songs is pure sleaze with a punkier edge. The band clearly wear their influences, such as Poison and Pretty Boy Floyd proudly on their sleeve, and traces of these bands are very much evident in the music. Quite honestly I don’t know how they have the energy to play so fast- 1000 Miles Away in particular is a song that’s really growing on me, as I had previously been more familiar with the other two tracks. I would have to say though that Rock N’ Roll Addiction probably remains my favourite. Nice N’ Sleezy sound, and certainly look different
from any other band, in Northern Ireland at least, and it’s to their
credit. It’s refreshing to see a young band like this playing music
that you tend not to hear a lot of these days. |
