Headrush
'A Thousand Pictures'

Headrush formed in Staffordshire in 2002, and have received rave reviews from the likes of Metal Hammer and Powerplay since.

Opening song Just Bring It On does exactly that, and is both powerful and energetic, with some very good vocals from singer Andy and some excellent guitars. It definitely fires you up for the remaining five songs.
A Thousand Pictures and Perfect Drug continue in the same vein, with loud riffs, screamed vocals and thumping drums.

For me, the highlight is Livin’ In A Fantasy, with its catchy chorus. Consumed is the token ballad, which really shows the band’s classic ‘80’s rock influences, as does closing track Party Tonite… come on, the title says it all- and the lyrics and tune are suitably apt for a band who proclaim themselves to be old-school in both sound and image.

I think that Headrush really have an asset in singer Andy Law. All the guys are clearly accomplished musicians, but the vocals, particularly Andy’s ability to hit some impossibly high notes, would perhaps put this CD a notch above the rest of some other EP’s I have heard.

Simply put, this is a professional sounding CD with some very strong songs on it. Headrush apparently sold over 2000 copies of this EP in two months and I can fully understand why. I imagine a full-scale album would sound fantastic, and hope that the lads get the chance. To use a Wayne and Garth-ism, these guys can really wail!
