Hardcore Superstar

Once again HMI turn to Sweden for the best of the new releases in the world of sleaze!

Hardcore Superstar have been around for nearly 10 years and have three other albums under their belt (my favourite is Bad Sneakers and a Pina Colada, by the way). But once again they are relatively unknown outside Europe.

The bands 4th release starts with a dark keyboard intro to 'Kick on the Upperclass' and as it did i actually held my breath. Have Hardcore Superstar followed in the steps of Faster Pussycat, Shotgun Messiah and Gemini Five and placed a gothic/industrial feel on top of their music???

I need not have worried. The next track is the almighty 'Bag on your head' which is a fast-paced, hook-laden, monster of a song.

And speaking of monsters of songs what about the two singles from the album 'We don't celebrate Sundays' and 'Wild Boys'. WOW!! The drum beat at the start of 'We don't celebrate Sundays' is the backbone to the entire song and provides a solid background to the excellent melody of the song which I am sure will be the biggest hit with the masses.

Jocke Berg's vocals were simply made for this style of music as he belts out line after sleazy line.

The band continue to write simple verse
-chorus-verse songs and it ensures that they remain catchy and good to singalong too.

The album ends with an un-characteristic ballad 'Standing on the Verge', which is beautifully written.

Overall the album is well written, well produced and leaves you wanting more.
