I love the guitars in opening track Let It Burn; it reminded me very much of Velvet Revolver, especially the intro. The Velvet Revolver influence was confirmed when I realised that the last song was a cover of VR’s Slither. It sounds quite strange without Scott Weiland’s snarling vocals, but I reckon if the guys play this live it must be a real floor-filler.

Get Away I thought was very LA Guns-ish, with its chant of “Gotta get away”, as was the 80’s metal riffage of ‘Can’t Resist’. Similarly, ‘Outta Luck’s’ Kickstart My Heart-esque intro shows that the band have some very good influences. On ‘Outta Luck’ Laurie also lets loose with a very impressive piercing scream, showing that his vocals have a lot of potential.

I think ‘Come Clean’ and ‘Suicide Gir’l are perhaps the weaker tracks on this demo, with ‘Suicide Girl’ in particular not really making much of an impact on me, but on the whole the musicianship cannot really be faulted throughout; the guitars in particular I found very good.

‘Sorry Eyes’ songwriting shows a maturity beyond their years, and has the makings of a real epic. I’d love to hear a non-demo, full scale production of this song. I thought the piano on it was lovely and really added a nice touch to the song. It’s the standout track, and I’m sure Dirty Vendetta themselves are very proud of it.

Overall, I thought this was a solid demo that bodes well for Dirty Vendetta’s future. You can tell that a lot of work has gone into the songs, and with nine tracks on this demo that’s more than a lot of bands can come up with.

A band to look out for in the future? Quite possibly.
