I
am impressed by a lot of things on this demo. I am impressed by the vocals,
the guitars, the bass lines, the drumming, the production and the fact
that it has 6 songs, which helps give me a better idea about the band's
music than two or three.
However what I am most impressed about is the way this demo has actually
grabbed my attention as though it was Motley Crue's latest release and
it is now something that I go out of my way to listen to as I find it
so enjoyable.
Crush
have been working hard and it seems that this hard work is paying off,
with tours in the US and support slots to the likes of Sebastian Bach
and Faster Pussycat. The hard work is also evident in the demo and I hope
the the guys are very proud of this release cause they should be. It's
clear that even before recording started, time was spent writing the lyrics
and music for these 6 tracks.
There are lots of things within the songs that are used to compliment
the vocals such as excellent backing vocals on 'Do what you do' and fancy
guitar hooks on 'Gotta Have it'. Vocalist Jim can sing incredibly well
which is sometimes hard to come across in any area of metal these days.
The two guitars also create a nice full sound but do not swamp out the
bass and drums.
The opening track 'Come on, come on' and 'Do what you do' are my personal
favourite's but there are no particular tracks that are weak. The drumming
and bass lines in 'Hell Hole' are a pleasant change and I love the way
the song builds from them during the bridge and then with the addition
of the final guitar slams you right back into the chorus.
Fantastic demo, i would strongly recommend this CD to all hard rock fans.
Just one thing lads... What the hell is that Marmalade thing at the end
of 'Come on, Come on'??? Everyone else you will just have to buy this
to find out what i am talking about.
