Voodoo Vegas are about to
embark on a UK tour with US hard rockers American Dog, HMI took the opportunity
to ask a few questions before the guys have to enter rehab!!!! We were previously called Cold Earth and formed in July 2004 by the two of us, but changed our name in November last year to Voodoo Vegas, Since then we have gone from strength to strength, all 3 songs from our debut E.P were used in Channel 4’s Free sports on 4, and were the only British band on Motorhead Tribute album St Valentines Day Massacre (Rock ‘n’ Roll Tribute To Motorhead) recording BORN TO RAISE HELL
Rock gods, Aerosmith, Guns ‘n’ Roses, Bon Jovi, and Ac/Dc
American Dog were one of the bands on the Motorhead Tribute, when we found out they were playing Local venue MR KYPS, We got in contact with the promoter to see if we could do the support for that gig, No we are doing 7 dates on the Tour. First ever UK tour, we can’t wait! A VV live show is full of energy, loads of crowd participation, we will be very disappointed is the crowd does not enjoy them selves watching a VV live show, we all have a great time playing one!
A few months ago we played a gig in Southampton, after the gig, 2 girls came up to the two of us, and asked if we wanted to go and party with them, we thought about it for mmmm, 1 sec and said yes. After having a few drinks in the venue, we drove to a little village where we were meeting their friend. When we met their friend she said the parties over there, and pointed out to the river, we looked again and saw lights and heard music coming from a yacht in the middle of the River. What we didn’t know was we would have to row a dingy out to the yacht. (By this time it was 2:00am and we were all very pissed) the funny thing was Nick didn’t want to leave his Les Paul in the car so ran back to get it. It was very surreal rowing a small dingy to the middle of a River at 2:00am very pissed, with Nick holding his Les Paul for dear life. We rowed out to the yacht and had a awesome late night party with the girls but is was fucking freezing, when we woke up in the afternoon we had to call out the river warden to come and pick us up as we forgot to tie the Dingy onto the yacht and it drifted away, he must of thought we were mad, excellent night! You already have a demo out- any plans for a full-scale album soon? Hopefully, fingers crossed, we are talking to some people we will see what happens after Guilfest and the Tour.
Proper has never left, its in everyone’s blood, all the other music has just filling the gaps while Rock ‘n’ Roll recharges its batteries for anther stand. As long as there are kick ass rock bands playing great shows, the fist of Rock will be held up high forever!!! You have a messageboard for your fans on your website- do you see things like that and MySpace etc as being vital for spreading the word of bands these days? Web sites, and My Space are very important for any bands; we spent a lot of money on www.voodoovegas.com because it’s the first port of call for people to find out about you when the saw you play the night before. Myspace is great; if anyone emails us we usually send them a free VV Live 05 cd.
If anyone wants a FREE LIVE 05 cd, please email info@voodoovegas.com or become our friend on www.myspace.com/voodoovegas. We will see you at Guilfest, and the Tour, its going to rock WE PROMISE.
