Although he’s most famous for fronting Motley Crue after Vince Neil was sacked/left, John Corabi has been in several other bands, including Ratt and Union.
Even though he’s busy at the moment completing his autobiography, John was happy to answer a few questions we mailed him last week.
HMI are huge Crue fans so we’re really thrilled that he did this for us. Isn’t it amazing what you can achieve when you chance your arm?

YOUR FORMER BAND ANGORA FEATURES ON THE HOLLYWOOD ROCKS BOX SET THAT WAS RELEASED RECENTLY- WHAT WAS IT LIKE BEING PART OF THAT SCENE, AND WERE YOU AWARE AT THE TIME THAT IT WOULD END UP BECOMING A LEGENDARY ERA FOR METAL?

A) We actually started playing the L.A. rock scene, at the beginning of its end. GNR, and Poison, were just getting signed when we first arrived, and then after that it just kind of slowed down a bit, so I didn't experience alot of the "mayhem"....

DOES IT ANNOY YOU NOW THAT YOUR ALBUM WITH MOTLEY CRUE WAS POORLY RECEIVED AT THE TIME IN COMPARISON TO THEIR PREVIOUS RECORDS, WHEN NOWADAYS IT IS BECOMING MORE AND MORE APPRECIATED, AND EVEN REGARDED AS ONE OF THE CRUE'S BEST?

A) Actually it doesn't bother me at all. Its actually a compliment, cause it tells me that My record with the Crue is STILL revelant now musically. That fact that people can listen to it, and still find it appealing, proves that...

WHAT WAS IT LIKE WORKING WITH VINCE NEIL DURING THE GENERATION SWINE
SESSIONS? WAS THERE ANY ANIMOSITY BETWEEN THE TWO OF YOU?

A) I didn't work much with Vince, but when we were together, he was always, and still is very cool to me. I like the guy, and NEVER had any sort of animosity towards him at all..

WOULD YOU EVER CONSIDER GOING BACK TO MOTLEY CRUE, FOR EXAMPLE AS A
GUITARIST, IF THEY ASKED?

A) I don't like "burning bridges", or closing doors, so I won't say never, but I'll just say its not probable...Why would they need or want me to play with them?? The fans are happy having the four original members together again, and they're touring again. I would just be another expense.....and costly this time!!! ha-ha..kidding

YOU WERE INVOLVED WITH BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION AT ONE POINT, AND WERE
RECENTLY QUOTED IN CLASSIC ROCK AS SAYING YOU TOLD NIKKI SIXX AND TRACII GUNS THAT BOD WAS NOT THE BEST THING THEY COULD HAVE DONE. IN LIGHT OF THIS, HAVE YOU HEARD THE BRIDES NEW ALBUM YET, AND IF SO, WHAT DO YOU THINK OF IT?

A) I haven't heard it, so I can't comment...sorry

HAVE YOU ANY PLANS TO GO BACK TO RATT NOW THAT THE TOUR WITH UNION HAS
ENDED, AND DO YOU THINK THEY WILL EVER REUNITE WITH STEPHEN PEARCY?

A) I'll do a couple of Fly- out dates with them this month actually in Minnesota, as far as Steven is concerned, I've heard "rumours", but your guess is as good as mine...

ANY PLANS TO COME BACK TO THE UK AT SOME POINT; EITHER WITH UNION AGAIN OR OTHERWISE?

A) I'd like to come back, and play with my solo band. Maybe as a opening act...Who knows. But I definately want to come and play EVERYWHERE!!!

YOUR SON IAN HAS HIS OWN BAND, FATAL EMBRACE. WHAT AGE IS HE, AND IS THERE ANY SPECIFIC ADVICE YOU HAVE GIVEN HIM ABOUT THE ROCK N' ROLL BUSINESS?

A) My son Ian just turned 18 on July 23 of 2005... I give him advice all the time. I try to explain my experiences, and my successes and failures, and just be as honest and open about as much as possible...I think he's got a good head on his shoulders, and alot of talent for being self-taught. Which leads me to believe he'll be fine!!!!

A) Probably, my two favorites are...Gasoline Alley by Rod Stewart, and Livin on the Edge by Aerosmith....


YOU ARE PURSUING A SOLO PROJECT AT THE MOMENT- IS THIS STILL IN THE EARLY
STAGES OR HAVE ANY SONGS BEEN RECORDED YET, AND IF SO, WHEN CAN WE EXPECT A RELEASE DATE!

A) Yes I've recorded a few songs, but I'm not sure if things are quite right yet, so no there is not a date yet, but I'd like to have it done and released this year...

A) Of course the obvious things like joining Motley, and the birth of my son, but its a pretty honest tell all book. It includes alot of private things regarding my youth, past indescretions and sex-capades!!! So it should be an interesting read!!!

A) Thank you all for the endless support, and I can't wait to finally get to the Emerald Island, to play some music for you guys!!! I want to sit in an Irish Pub, and have a real GUINESS ( my favorite I might add) with my Irish friends!!!
