Steel Tormentor were founded in 1997 by Guitarist & vocalist James Kelly. The goal was to play music in the vein of his favorite bands Iron Maiden, Judas Priest & Helloween.

It wasn’t till early 2004 James found a line up stable enough to record the debut 10 track demo/album “Unleashed”. James took care of all the guitars & vocals as well as all the recording & production. He was joined on drums by Seanie Walsh & Paul Newell on bass guitar. The cd was recorded over a 10 week period in James’s home studio.

The cd got such a great response when it was released a gigging line up had to be put together.

After numerous auditions the new line-up was formed, which included John Hanly on bass, Norman Rafter on guitar and Paul Donnellan on drums.The band undertook their busiest ever live schedule with this line-up.

After a few quite weeks on the recording front Steel tormentor have officially announced the follow up to the well recieved Unleashed will be a concept album.

No further news on this will be available for a few weeks. James Kelly founding member of the band has stated after several rehearsal & writting sessions a clear theme started running through each song so after some lyrics were changed a great concept idea took shape giving the whole album more depth.

James says "there was no plan for it to be a concept album things just fell into place naturally so we thought what the hell lets go with it".

ST have been confirmed to appear at this years BLOODSTOCK metal festival.
