The Gourami

Bio- A rock band in the classic sense. Low slung guitars, raw, sexy, loud n' heavy, but with an ear for a tune. A three piece, influenced in equal measures by the roots of rock ‘n roll and the blues, to 70’s stadium behemoths, to the alternative sensibilities of the early 90’s grunge scene. By no means a meat-head metal act or superficial glam wannabies, the band insist they were created by the devil himself to rock your socks off.

Formed in the summer of 2000, brothers in rock Bob and Scott Gourami had already played in bands with each other over the years. They had however grown tired of what they were hearing from the then current flash in the pan; Nu-Metal, and the bed wetting antics of the indie scene. The decision was made to form an out and out rock band, in the style of those they’d loved whilst growing up. The line-up was completed in autumn 2003 by the addition of drummer; “the Kid” Hayden, formally of Kilkus and Dury*Falls. Although the song writing has evolved and developed the core ethos of being the mightiest Rock act to come out of Essex remains.

The Gourami have notched up a huge number of gigs, playing all over London, Essex and further afield, gaining supports with the likes of the Darkness, Skunk Anansie and the 80's Matchbox B-line Disaster. The band’s first EP “Dirt Rock City” is due for release through Big Ride Records soon.
